Fascia Focused Bodywork
Fascia is connective tissue made primarily of collagen that connects every part of the body, and often serves as a storage medium for fat and water, and as a passageway for lymph, nerve, and blood vessels.
Healthy fascia is normally supple, stretchy, and flexible, allowing it to slide and glide across muscles and around joints. Fascia can get stiff and sticky when you don’t move around enough, or when it is injured. Signs that your fascia may be stuck can include feeling stiff and creaky, popping joints, areas of sensitivity and tightness, chronic pain, reduced range of motion, and feeling too tight overall.
One way to think of fascia is like a fishnet stocking covering your body from head to toe. It rests just under your skin and your nerves, blood vessels and fat are woven through it. As we go through life, some sections of the “fishnet” of fascia can become twisted, knotted, and pulled too tightly in certain areas which cuts off circulation and results in discomfort and even pain. In addition, fat is forced up in these areas and causes cellulite.
Fascia Focused Bodywork to the rescue!
Also known as Fascia Blasting, my Fascia Focused Bodywork massages the “fishnet” of fascia to help release twists and knots so that it can once again become flexible and supple. Blood flow becomes restored and nerve function can then improve – which can reduce pain, cellulite, and stiffness. As you can see, freeing up your fascia can be very beneficial.
